Boss Spotlight- Glenroy McIntosh

Q1: How did you get into public relations and communications?

I got into PR and Communications 6 years ago, working with Jackie and Joan Knight, as a Marketing Assistant in promoting the Caribbean Swim Championship held in Jamaica. I admired how Jackie was able to effectively market and promoted the Swim Championship, which was at that time was the first time being held in Jamaica. That experience was life-changing and from then on I founded my passion.

Q2: What advice would you give to young persons who are desirous of breaking into the field?

Confidence and determination is everything. Breaking into PR field can be very challenging, as it is based on connections; but once you develop the confidence to reach out to people (influencers) within the industry-it becomes less challenging. Oh, and don’t be discouraged by a no response. Ensure you are aware of industry trends.

Q3: How has the transition been from working in the Jamaican market to working in the Trinidadian market?

It has been an interesting experience to say the least. Being a Jamaican, usually gives individuals mixed feelings. Despite this, the overall transition was complex but rewarding. It meant establishing new contacts with various individuals and networking in certain circles. I think my personality has enabled me to ‘connect’ easily with people.

Q4: How did you come up with the idea of Connexion Integrated Solutions?

By now you would realize the word ‘connect’ keeps popping up whenever I speak. Connexion Integrated Solutions was started out of the idea of creating a relationship between businesses, small and medium in particular, and their desired audience.

Q6: What is your biggest accomplishment to date?

Creating a high school tour series in which various professionals shared their experiences with students and motivating them about positive choices.
