Unless you are new to this blog…you would know that I repeatedly preach protecting your brand and the factors can affect it.

Let’s talk about the recent social media sensation “The Eyebrow girl” whose Instagram videos of her commenting on a fire drill in “company uniform” lead to her termination due to her alleged conduct.

Now before some of you get on the defensive, I know your social media is your personal business in your eyes in your eyes but in 2016 whether or not your page is private the public, your employer can get access to your photos. Just take the above eyebrow saga as your lesson.

Your personal brand should be consistent across all social media platforms. Be sure not to post anything you won’t want your employer, parents or God seeing. Employers often look at social media platforms to get a gauge of their future employers in their most comfortable state.

Here are a few tips to maintain your identity on social media:

  1. Refrain from using abusive language

  2. Avoid posting in company uniforms

  3. Avoid posting pornographic material

  4. Avoid social media feuds

Until next time...stay bossed up!
