I’ve been blessed to have had the opportunity to travel to many cities for leisure and some business trips. The invaluable experiences I get from travelling are by far the biggest eye opener for me in terms of my career.
Meeting other professionals in my age range and seeing how progressive they are, the level of technology they use to make their jobs easier and just seeing how they operate, kicks me into high gear & I get this burst of energy to do something more with my life.
Travelling exposes you to new cultures & you somehow begin to see the world differently like an Aha! Moment.
Attending Conferences
Many of my peers often ask me why do you attend so many conferences, how does that make you a better HR practitioner? My response normally is: I attend them for personal development, to soak up a wealth of knowledge and to network.
Look, besides my love for travel and my obsession with the hotel rooms conferences are an excellent way for me to stay current with international industry trends and a great opportunity for me to meet leaders in the industry and even a few influential friends.
Over the years I’ve learnt the power of networking. I know some of you say the costs of those conferences are too much for your budget but most companies are willing to sponsor employees in part or in full. If this doesn’t work out, Start saving… an investment in you is never wasted.
I’m publishing a list of the top (10) most attend conferences….. Stay tuned.
